Title IX

Title IX

Title IX is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex. As a part of our mission, Hofstra University strives to cultivate students' social and ethical responsibility, and emotional and physical well-being on our campus.  In accordance with Title IX and our mission, Hofstra has policies, procedures and resources to prevent and address issues such as discrimination based on sex, including sexual violence and gender-based harassment. These include the Student Policy Prohibiting Discriminatory Harassment, Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct for complaints against students, and the Hofstra University Harassment Policy for complaints against other members of the University community. Students at Hofstra should also be aware of their rights under the Students’ Bill of Rights as these rights relate to the offenses of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and sexual assault.

An Executive summary of our 2019 campus survey results is now available here in response to requirements of New York State's Enough is Enough legislation. We encourage any student who would like to discuss the finding and information to reach out to the Title IX Officer for Student Issues for a meeting.
