Certificate Programs

  • Educational Leadership, Advanced Certificate
A five-semester, 30-semester hour program designed for educators who are preparing for entry-level leadership positions in public schools, this certificate program qualifies students for the New York State School Building Leader (SBL) and School District Leader (SDL) certifications. The goal of the program is to prepare creative, flexible, visionary and reflective elementary and secondary school educational administrators with the skills necessary to facilitate and improve the quality of learning for all students. Toward this end, students complete the required sequence of courses as a learning community and engage in class and field-based experiential learning projects designed to develop important leadership skills. In addition to course work, administrative candidates complete three semesters of supervised internships in multiple settings, tailored to individual career objectives. This certificate program is also fully transferable to the doctor of education (Ed.D.) program in educational and policy leadership.
  • Pedagogy for Health Professionals, Advanced Certificate
This 15-credit certificate is a post-graduate program designed to prepare clinicians who provide care to patients with an expanded role as a clinician educator for students, residents, externs and fellows. This foundational knowledge will be applicable to futuristic trends in health professions education and practice. The program is a hybrid offering: one course per semester online and one course per semester on-site in an executive offering model. The summer practicum is individualized with an advisor, with two required meetings – an orientation and summary/closure session. Graduates are awarded an advanced certificate consisting of 15 graduate-level courses.
  • School District Business Leader, Advanced Certificate
This certificate program is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a fiscally sound school district within the parameters established by New York state and the local school system. The program consists of 15 or 38 credits, depending on prior education and certification status. The program is suitable for current educational administrators who wish to develop expertise in the business and financial aspects of a school district organization. It is also suitable for individuals, with or without prior experience in education, who seek preparation for school district business leadership positions. Completion of this program qualifies the graduate for the New York State School District Business Leader (SDBL) certificate.
