To help prepare students for graduate school and employment in a wide array of fields, the English Department supports numerous activities. Those interested in graduate study may choose to write an Honors research essay or work on a creative manuscript. Students concentrating in Publishing Studies routinely intern at major publishing houses and publications in New York. Majors in other concentrations have secured numerous internships as well, in companies like ABC and CBS News, and at publications like O magazine, Cosmopolitan, and Vogue. The Department regularly sponsors events in which professionals and graduates discuss career opportunities and network with students. For those interested in graduate school, we hold workshops and guide students through the application process. We encourage students to apply to our own, strong graduate program, offering an M.A. in literature and an M.F.A. in creative writing.
